Continuing with our goal to bring you international jazz acts each month we are delighted to announce a world class duo striaght out of New York. Randy ingram and Drew Gress are two of the finest exponents of modern jazz today. No strangers to Ireland Randy was last in Ireland touring with Kevin Brady and Dave Redmond. Drew was in Dublin back in 2015 withTom Rainey’s Obbligato project. In recent years Drew has been the bassist with tthe John Abercrombie Quartet appearing on his last three recording for ECM.

The duo will be performing tracks from Ingram’s very recent release for Sunnyside Records, The Wandering a wonderfully delicious peice of work. They will put on two performances,  Friday the 26th and Saturday 27th.

Randy Ingram, pianist/composer, has been hailed as “gifted” (Jazz Times) and “a formidable composer” (San Francisco Chronicle). “A young pianist drawn to contemporary harmony and a sleek rhythmic sensibility; Astute, self-possessed” (The New York Times).  Originally from California, Ingram attended the New England Conservatory of Music before moving to Brooklyn, NY in 2003. He has played with leading musicians including John Patitucci, Ari Hoenig, Benny Maupin, Tierney Sutton, Kendrick Scott and the late Billy Higgins.  Ingram made his acting debut in 2013, portraying one of his heroes, Bill Evans, in the Swedish biopic “Monica Z” about the great singer Monica Zetterlund.  His newest recording for Sunnyside Records, The Wandering, is an intimate collection of duets with the esteemed bassist Drew Gress, which is “as calming and carefully crafted a conversation you’re likely to hear between a grand piano and stand-up bass anytime soon” (The Observer).
