-THE BIG NEWS this month is the announcement that Charles Lloyd is to appear on the 18th November in the National Concert Hall. This represents a major boost for jazz in Dublin as Lloyd is surely one of the “must-see” artists in the world. He continues to compose and release albums under the ECM label where he has been since 1989. Lloyd was last here in 2005 when he played to a packed Vicar Street.
Joining Lloyd on the bill is one of Europe’s most sensational composers/ performers. Olivia Trummer was here last year when she toured Ireland to huge critical acclaim and her return is well overdue. She was approached by Lloyd’s agent to open the show based on her outstanding talent and unique standing in European jazz as a major singer/pianist and composer. Playing along side Olivia will be Kevin Brady on drums and Dave Redmond on Bass.
