LUCKY PETERSON will be making his Irish debut in The Sugar Club on March 12th. Following the release of his worldwide hit album “Son of a Bluesman” Lucky has been in high demand and the album sums up Lucky’s philosophy that ” he didn’t choose the Blues, the Blues chose him“.

BEKA GOCHIASHVILI will be appearing on a mini tour starting with Dolan’s of Limerick on Wednesday 25th. The event is been organised in co-operation with John Daly of the Limerick Jazz Society. On Friday the 27th Beka will be making his Dublin appearance in the wonderfully acoustic setting of St. Ann’s Church Dawson Street on Friday 27th.
This young sensation who is only eighteen years old comes with a serious pedigree. Winner of the Montreux Jazz Festival Piano competition at the tender age of 13 (Youngest ever winner) he has since gone on to perform with the likes of Victor Bailey, Lenny White, Stanley Clarke, Chick Corea, Brian Blade John Patitucci, Christian McBride etc. etc. His first album “Beka” was produced by Lenny White and featured Wallace Rooney, John Patitucci, Stanley Clarke to name a few. Beka has recently graduated from Juilliard in NYC. His private tutors are Fred Hersch and Danilo Peres.
MELANIE O’REILLY will make a welcome return from San Francisco with her wonderful show “Jazz on a Sumer’s Day – A Tribute to Anita O’Day”. The show is a mixture between the smokey swinging style and brilliant sense of rhythm of one of the twentieth century’s greatest singers and the turbulent chaotic life of an unconventional genius. The show, a combination of narrative and music tells the life of O’Day who featured so prominently in the iconic 1958 documentary of The Newport Jazz Festival Jazz on a Summer’s Day. IAN SHAW will be making another welcome visit to Dublin on January 31st when he will be appearing with The Phil Ware Trio in JJ Smyth’s. Ian is one of the major jazz artists in the UK and certainly one of the busiest. Those that missed him two years ago at the same venue won’t want to make the same mistake again.
PHRONESIS are setting out on a nation wide tour on the 4th February. ALLEN SMITH has been organising great concerts in Dublin for longer then he cares to remember.
